Primary Importance: The Future Starts Now!

The Florida 2004 presidential election primary is coming soon to a precinct near you! To take part in the March 9 primary, you must register to vote by Monday, February 9.

To fill out a voter registration form online, go to http://www.commoncause.org/states/florida/ and click on the Register to Vote! button.

To be eligible for the March 9 Florida primary, you must postmark this voter registration form no later than February 9, 2004.

C'mon guys, everyone who's not registered to vote yet due to whatever apathy or crazy ideas are in your head, please just do me this favor, and register. Consider it a birthday present to me (cheapskates, j/k). Let's do this, get our voter's cards, and give all those elderly folks a run for their money. We'll bum rush the nearest damn voting place; it'll be fun.

I am really pissed because _last time_ I voted down here...I was still a MA resident, so I had to fill out an absentee ballot. Guess what? They _never_ even counted those in Florida due to all the miscount bullshit. So anyhow. I have a bit of a chip on my shoulder, plus, I am sick of feeling like i am living in the book '1984'.

And for everyone who's not even sure who they'd vote for, or don't care, perhaps we could have a meeting beforehand and talk about the different candidates and how they feel about certain issues. You could also go (presidentmatch.com and do the test or compare the candidates there.

Please do this. The guys who are in power now depend totally on our apathy, except we're the ones who are going to be paying for our own apathy in the long run, not them. We're the ones who'll be stuck with the 1 trillion dollar deficit. If not us, our younger siblings or children will. Either way, the world will suck and we'll all be sitting around going "bleh". I don't wanna sit around and go "bleh" when I am older.

Oh, and if you want to post a comment saying "you are so stupid for thinking your vote is going to do anything", save yourself the time, and don't do it. If you saw all the elderly people waiting in line to vote, with photocopied sheets of paper telling them whom they should be voting for, it'd make you absolutely sick. Whoever is encouraging them to vote obviously knows that votes _do_ count. And I have a feeling that the fairness of the ballots is going to be carefully considered this time, at least in Florida for sure.

And for those of you who think you don't have time to vote, or can't take the day off work, or whatever. Think about the reasons you can't take the time off...and then slap yourself and come have fun voting with me! It'll be fun. It'll be like a really weird party at some funky place. I swear. Leave a comment, sign up, commit. We'll plan carpooling and all that wacky shit. Let me know.
